OUR PEOPLE
Andrea Wylie
Literacy Connections Consultant
Life in education began for Andrea over 20 years ago, first as a primary school teacher, and then eventually as an assistant principal of a large primary school in Hamilton. Andrea has worked in a variety of educational roles including as a board of trustees representative and loves seeing kids become truly engaged in their learning and seeing their confidence grow as they achieve their goals.
Over time Andrea had become increasingly concerned about the students in our schools that are struggling with reading, writing and spelling. The research tells us dyslexia affects around 10 percent of our population, so these children are in most classes. With this in mind, and a determination to help these kids succeed, she completed her intensive training in Multisensory Structured Language Education (MSL). Andrea is looking forward to unlocking the potential of every child she works with and to helping transform teaching practices in New Zealand schools.
