Rebbecca Sweeney
Structured Literacy Consultant

Becc specialises in Writing and Language Comprehension. She is Writing Revolution trained and supports teachers and leaders with implementation of Structured Literacy using warmth and humour. Becc works alongside the rest of the team to support specialist teachers and assessment practices and is also DIBELS trained.  IMSLE training has enabled Becc to tutor struggling students and to support teachers to do the same.

Becc has a background in education through teaching, policy, leadership coaching, adult learning and facilitation. She has worked in a variety of educational roles including as a senior advisor at the Ministry of Education in policy, governance and curriculum roles. She has been a facilitator and consultant for almost 17 years and runs her own successful business three days a week.

Becc’s Master of Education research closely examined how adult learners collaborate. Using this knowledge and experience, she has been able to disrupt how people think about leadership, teamwork and teacher inquiry, and play a role in changing how educators work with children facing challenging circumstances in their lives. Becc’s particular knowledge of the Spiral of Inquiry, which is underpinned by the science of learning and development, has seen her become Aotearoa’s network lead for The Networks of Inquiry and Indigenous Education, which is also representative of her driving desire to work as an ally alongside Māori in Aotearoa. She is driven by a vision for equity in a bicultural Aotearoa.

Becc is an ICF trained and accredited Executive and Organisational Coach and enjoys coaching senior executive, and senior/middle leaders in education and business to support their career moves and leadership of people and culture.
